Being under the weather makes you think about things like pain killers.. And boredom… And what you have in the cupboard because nuts to going outside.
As I was rearranging my bookshelves in preparation for the arrival of two more to catch the overflow I found a title I bought at the Book Of The Dead exhibit a while back.
And I’ll be damned if I didn’t have most of the ingredients. And I’ll be even more damned if I didn’t go and get the remaining two, cook this sucker up and administer it.
Here’s how it goes:
- A bottle of red wine. (Had that. Obviously.)
- Bag of dates. (Had that from an unbelievably good Pyrenees ice cream I made a few weeks back.)
- Bag of raisins. (Had that. I’m as surprised as you! Same volume as the dates.)
- Large bunch of fresh dill. (Three out of four, then. Good thing I live in poncy West London.)
Boil it all together and administer for four days. I’m on day two. Can’t say it tastes super great but it certainly tastes medicinal and “ye olde”.
Discorides says the Ancient Egyptians called dill arakhou. Which is also possibly the name of the potion. It is now.
